Job Title: Production Supervisor

Reports To: Production Manager

 

Job Summary:
Responsible for leading and coordinating all manufacturing-related activities within the department, including Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Quality Systems, daily operations, preventive maintenance support, productivity, and employee engagement. This role ensures alignment with plant goals by developing people, driving continuous improvement, and delivering strong results in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Partners closely with Human Resources, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance.


Key Responsibilities

 

Safety, Health & Environmental Leadership

  • Ensures a safe, clean, and compliant work environment in accordance with plant policies, EHS standards, and quality system requirements (TS16949 / IATF).
  • Actively promotes safety awareness and safe work behaviors.
  • Identifies and addresses safety hazards and near misses promptly.
  • Ensures employees are properly trained and follow all safety procedures.

 

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensures all products and processes meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Partners with Quality and Engineering to resolve quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Uses BOS tools and structured problem-solving methods to drive defect reduction and process stability.
  • Holds teams accountable to standard work, inspection requirements, and quality expectations.

 

Operational Excellence & Productivity

  • Executes production schedules to meet customer demand for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Manages staffing, setup, and workflow to maximize efficiency and throughput.
  • Monitors downtime, changeovers, scrap, and efficiency metrics and drives improvement actions.
  • Supports preventive and daily maintenance activities in coordination with Maintenance.
  • Uses BOS and visual management systems to track performance and close gaps.

 

People Leadership & Development

  • Coaches, develops, and motivates employees through regular feedback and performance discussions.
  • Assesses individual strengths and development needs and provides growth opportunities.
  • Builds strong bench strength through training, cross-training, and succession planning.
  • Supports positive employee relations and fosters an inclusive, respectful work environment.

 

Change Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Champions change initiatives and challenges the status quo.
  • Encourages employee involvement in problem solving and improvement activities.
  • Promotes a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Communicates the “why” behind changes to drive engagement and alignment.

  • Builds strong working relationships across departments including HR, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance.
  • Fosters teamwork at the cell, value stream, and organizational levels.
  • Communicates effectively and consistently to ensure alignment and clarity.

  • Clearly communicates expectations, goals, and performance results.
  • Effectively presents ideas, concerns, and performance data to leadership.
  • Responds professionally to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, and business partners.

  • Demonstrates strong internal and external customer orientation.
  • Ensures production commitments align with customer requirements and business priorities.
  • Drives urgency and accountability to meet delivery and quality expectations.

  • Demonstrates flexibility in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Adjusts priorities quickly to meet changing production and business needs.
  • Maintains focus and composure under pressure while driving results.

Job Requirements

 

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two to five years of manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.

 

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems).
  • Above-average structured problem-solving and documentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and lean/BOS principles.

 

Leadership & Behavioral Competencies

  • Proven proactive leadership and accountability mindset.
  • Results-driven with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High energy, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
  • Empathetic and able to handle employee issues in an open, honest, and respectful manner.

Physical Demands
