As a Security Consultant for the Security Engineering team, you will be part of a growing national team that supports and delivers next generation technology roadmap and best-in-class capabilities. You will develop, deploy and operationalize new technologies that are critical to continuously improving TELUS’ security posture. We partner with industry leaders to meet the cybersecurity needs of TELUS and meet the demands of an increasingly complex and ever-changing security landscape.

 


What You'll Do

 

  • Expert in your field: Support TELUS CyberSecurity defense in depth portfolio, cloud transformation and automation initiatives. Lead the introduction of new technology, platforms, applications, capabilities and services to protect TELUS as an anchor client.
  • Design & Development: Lead the design, development and validation activities, including Proof of Concepts (POC), vendor selection, testing, production deployment and automation.
  • Cloud Transformation: Support and lead various cloud transformation activities.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the CyberSecurity Operations team to drive resiliency, reliability, and seamless performance of our deployments.
  • Technology Savvy Problem-Solver: Resolve problems that are diverse and complex and frequently involve new issues that may not have been encountered previously.
  • Strong Communicator: Present relevant security findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Innovative Thinker: Think outside the box, be open to do things differently and do things that have never been done before.
  • Analytical Thinker: Make timely and logical decisions in analyzing diverse information streams, evaluating options and formulating recommendations in order to resolve problems.

What you bring

 

  • Experience & Education: Valued for your 5 or more years of design and deployment end-to-end experience, from the start of an idea, to the final production deployment. Post-secondary degree in Engineering,  Computer Science, or related disciplines.
  • DDoS & Network Security: Hands-on experience with multiple DDoS technologies such as Arbor and Radware. Experience with Juniper and Cisco routers, BGP, Flowspec, and SNMP would be beneficial.
  • Security Technologies: Experience with other security technologies such as Firewall, Cloud Security tools, VPN, SSE, email security and SaaS security.
  • Cloud-Native Knowledge: Understanding of Cloud-Native (GCP) implementation and software delivery model.
  • Emerging Tech: Foundational knowledge of AI security, including common threats and the implementation of basic guardrails, and an understanding of zero-trust architectures and technologies.
  • DevSecOps: Understanding of CI/CD pipeline integration with vendors, and open cloud-friendly e2e test automation frameworks: automate SW integration, delivery and testing.
  • Strong problem-solver who thrives in ambiguity and delivers results in fast-paced environments.
