Job Description

  

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this position will be accountable for the effective negotiation of contracts, the renewal, cancellations and the awarding of new contracts. The Buyer must be a skilled negotiator and provide a systematic weighing of all available information, to arrive at a logical conclusion and the attainment of planned buying and profit goals. The incumbent organizes and assembles purchasing cost data; develops, analyzes and presents cost information to management in such a manner that it is useful for decision making and price trend analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Oversee purchasing of raw materials, components, and services to meet production and business requirements.
  • Ensure the uninterrupted supply of materials to support production and sales
  • Work to resolve materials issues while achieving and maintaining business metrics
  • Organized individual- will maintain a record of all transactions, deviations and modifications.
  • Lead negotiations for pricing, terms, and conditions to achieve cost savings and favorable agreements.
  • Proactively report product and material availability issues
  • Maintain, monitor Master Data; revise essential system procurement data to ensure SAP system is effectively flowing down requirements
  • Ensure effective inventory management: inventory reduction activities; monitor and prevent E&O;
  • Maintain purchase order status and shipment tracking information in SAP.
  • Proactively provide supply status and shipment tracking to Trade Compliance and Production/Planning team.
  • Coordinate with internal export control department to ensure the required international shipping and commercial documents are in place for all international shipments
  • Coordinate inventory planning and replenishment floor stock program and recommend changes, additions, removals as necessary
  • Provide materials input to all ECN approvals and execute all required materials transactions resulting from ECN dispositions.  This includes changes in stock, changes in POs and changes in production jobs.
  • Manage Acton MRB process, coordinating with the Director of Quality and Customer Service to properly and efficiently disposition and react to all non-conforming material
  • Complete special projects and assignments as requested


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 4 years of purchasing experience
  • Excellent oral and written skills will be essential for successful negotiations and the documentation of legal and other contract information. 
  • Ideal candidate will be professional, self-motivated, with the ability to act independently.
  • Must be creative and effective in problem solving.
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve problems expeditiously
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems, specifically SAP (version S4 Hana)
  • Experience negotiating and managing significant supplier partnering arrangements/ procurements.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, specifically MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Experience with ISO 9000.
  • Ideal candidates have an engineering or technical background and history of success in the following areas:
  • Outsourcing & Secondary Sourcing
  • Cost reduction
  • Lean manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Kanban and/or consignment inventory strategy
  • Working knowledge of business process improvement.
  • Detailed understanding of machining processes and fabricated part drawings is preferred.
  • Detailed understanding of machining processes and technical knowledge and experience reading and understanding drawings of machined and fabricated part is preferred.
  • APICS certifications such as CPIM (Certified in production and Inventory Management) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) certification desirable.
  • In depth knowledge of optical components and related sub-assemblies is highly desirable.

Salary Range:

$96,600.00-$128,800.000

Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
