Responsibilities & Qualifications

MINIMUM/GENERAL EXPERIENCE 

Eight (8) or more years of experience in software engineering, data science, or AI development, including hands-on experience deploying and maintaining machine learning models and pipelines in production environments.  

MINIMUM EDUCATION 

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Relevant advanced degrees or equivalent experience may be substituted. 

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS PREFERRED 

• Experience with low-code AI/ML platforms and MLOps automation tools. 

• Familiarity with cloud-based AI services and DevOps environments. 

• Experience supporting AI solutions in Federal or regulated environments. 

• Strong collaboration and technical communication skills. 

The International Trade Administration (ITA) leverages advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to support mission delivery, economic competitiveness, and data-driven decision-making. To accelerate adoption while maintaining security and scalability, ITA is establishing an AI Center of Excellence (AI-CoE) to develop, operationalize, and sustain AI solutions across the enterprise. 

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Design, develop, and deploy AI and machine learning solutions using low-code and automated AI/ML platforms. 

• Scale AI prototypes into production-ready machine learning models, including data preprocessing, training, and validation. 

• Automate and orchestrate machine learning pipelines, including model deployment, monitoring, and retraining. 

• Manage AI models, datasets, and artifacts across development, staging, and production environments. 

• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity for all AI inputs and outputs. 

• Deploy, serve, and monitor AI models to support performance, reliability, and scalability. 

• Collaborate with Product Owners, AI Developers, and infrastructure teams to align solutions with mission needs. 

• Document AI workflows, pipelines, and operational procedures to support sustainment and knowledge transfer.
