Job Purpose

Hiring now for an experienced Workshop Service Technician in the subsea shop in Houston, TX! 

This position is an intermediate level position able to apply basic skills with increasing independence. Individuals in the role assemble and test complex mechanical assemblies, often to close tolerances.

 

  • Works under minimal supervision and may adapt procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs.  Resolves all but most complex problems and questions independently. 
  • Contacts with other person in department for routine matters or to provide assistance.  Occasional contact with other departments to furnish or obtain information.  Direct interface with Customer Representative.
  • May assist in orienting, training, assigning and checking the work of less experienced employees.

Job Description

  • Assembles and tests mechanical assemblies according to TechnipFMC specifications.  Applies advanced skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment in area of expertise.
  • Assists during assembly of components in areas of expertise.
  • Completes required test documentation including test reports, failed test reports and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).  Assists with FAT’s (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SIT’s (System Integration Tests).
  • Assists in preparing, maintaining and utilizing test stations and test equipment for factory and system acceptance testing.
  • Resolves most questions and problems in mastered sub-assemblies.  Refers only the most complex issues to higher levels.
  • Cleans components after assembly according to FMCTI specifications and verbal/written instructions.
  • Inputs labor data into Labor Tracking System (LTS) for cost tracking purposes.
  • Uses material handling equipment to move parts, components and subassemblies from one work or storage area to another as required.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner and keeps all employees aware of dangers in work area.  Practices good housekeeping in work area.

You are meant for this job if:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Generally 2+ years of experience in field.
  • Ability to comprehend all engineering and weld blueprints and all written engineering procedures. Knowledge of components and circuits and their interfaces at a sub-assembly level.  Ability to read and interpret schematics and Bills of Material (BOM). 
  • Ability to use personal computer and/or workstation.
  • Must and have mastered at least three key sub-assemblies.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Basic English written and communication skills are required.
  • Ability to operate High and Low Pressure Pumps, Hydrostatic Pumps, High Torque Wrenches, Overhead Cranes, Jib Cranes, Forklifts, and Rigging.  Ability to use hand tools, power tools and measuring devices such as height gauges, adjustable parallels, calipers and pressure gauges.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Shop environment.  Works in confined workspaces.  High noise level.  Frequent exposure to possible shop hazards including heavy equipment, chemicals, flash burns, UV exposure, hot parts, eye injuries, high pressure and high noise levels.  90% of time is spent on the shop floor or in outdoor areas.   

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing upward, crawling in confined workspace, walking and lifting daily
