About this role

Overview

Technical Associates is seeking a Mechanical Designer to work on projects for industrial clients. Will work with closely with our clients on a daily basis, under the direction of multiple engineers and project managers. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial engineering project execution, strong working knowledge of manufacturing and process plant environments, and be fully proficient in the use of 2D and 3D CAD.

 

Requires local travel to client site (mileage to/from office is reimbursed) for meetings, field inspections, and startup.

Responsibilities

Designer will work with project engineer to conduct field data collection; will generate construction drawings based on measurements and sketches. On site work conditions will include an industrial facilities environment, including wide temperature range.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of industrial mechanical design experience
  • Tech School diploma or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of basic engineering technology and manufacturing techniques
  • Experience would include the following: machine design or mechanism design with capability of working on other systems such as conveyors, pumps, piping, fans, duct, P&IDs, or equipment layouts preferred.
  • Must be fully proficient in working in both 2D and 3D drawings
  • Familiarity with 3D Laser equipment a plus.  Open to training on scanning and modeling.
  • Solid Works or AutoCAD Inventor strongly preferred.
  • Must have the ability to actively contribute to the design process and assist in problem solving within a teamwork setting.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to take direction from supervising engineer

Essential Functions

  • Must be able to climb ladders, stairways, and access equipment
  • Must be able to climb caged personnel ladder
  • Must be capable of walking the distance from parking lot to designated job area (may be 1 mile+), in addition to walking throughout a large manufacturing plant during course of day for required meetings and other required duties
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check and motor vehicle report (MVR) according to company and client policies
