The QA & Test Analyst  is responsible for performing software testing and quality assurance analysis work. The incumbent will plan, develop, and execute component, system, integration, and user acceptance testing of application systems; and administer internal quality assurance work to ensure software products meet standards and end-user requirements. This position will proactively work with the Testing and Quality Assurance team, Delivery and Quality Management, IT staff, and agency employees.

The Quality Assurance & Testing Analyst Senior is responsible for performing advanced software testing and quality assurance analysis work. The incumbent will work on planning, developing, and executing component, system, integration, and user acceptance testing of application systems; administering internal quality assurance work to ensure software products meet standards and end-user requirements; and providing training and technical assistance. This position will proactively work with the Testing and Quality Assurance team, Delivery and Quality Management, IT staff, and agency employees.

This vacancy will be filled at one of two levels - Testing & Quality Assurance Analyst or Testing & Quality Assurance Analyst Senior. Selected applicant will be offered the position that most closely matches their education and experience. 

Salary Range
Testing & Quality Assurance Analyst: $73,790.00 – $92,237.00
Testing & Quality Assurance Analyst Senior: $89,286.00 – $111,608.00

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Software Testing
•Creates complex test plans and executes test cases; creates and maintains automated test scripts.
•Adapts testing techniques to satisfy evolving testing requirements.
•Promotes and adopts consistent testing standards, tools, and processes.
•Performs load/performance tests utilizing appropriate testing tools.
•Runs tests and diagnoses problems to ensure user requirements are met.
•Sets up and maintains the continuous integration environment for build and test.
•Utilizes structured query language (SQL) to analyze and validate data during testing.
•Conducts regression, performance, stress, security, usability, and interoperability testing activities for web applications, web services, batch jobs, etc.
•Deploys tested application from Development environment to QA and Production environment.
•Tracks test results, coordinates corrective actions, maintains accurate documentation of test activities and results, and instructs test team members.
•Uses HP testing tools in the testing process when appropriate (HP ALM Quality Center, Unified Functional Testing, LoadRunner) including creating automated test scripts, load testing scripts, security testing scripts, etc.
•Creates complex test plans and generates and executes test cases based upon requirements documents, design documents, and/or interactions with business analysts, application developers, and end users.(Senior)
•Has good working knowledge of release processes and deployments of application from Development environment to QA and Production environment.(Senior)
•Reports results of test activities, and provides clear and constructive feedback to the programming team regarding defects discovered as the result of executing test plans and test cases.(Senior)

Quality Assurance
•Works with development team and QA team to create and maintain automated software builds in release process.
•Collaborates closely with Business Analysts in the development and validation of requirements to ensure testability.
•May provide input on the development of quality control policies, procedures, and standards.
•Assists in developing solutions and recommendations to address documented problems, bugs, and potential software defects.
•Identifies areas of improvements in quality assurance and release processes and implements steps to optimize solutions
•Partner with Business Analysts in the development and validation of requirements to ensure testability. (Senior)
•Create, update and maintain IT quality assurance and testing policies and procedures.(Senior)
•Provide advanced solutions and recommendations to address documented problems, bugs, and potential software defects.(Senior)

Training & Technical Assistance
•Provides assistance to the development team in isolating the cause of defects.
•May provide training and technical assistance to staff in the proper application of quality assurance procedures through all stages of the system development life cycle.
•Leads or participates on special projects and committees. (Senior)


WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

Required Education
•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology or a closely related field.
•High School graduation or equivalent and additional full-time work experience in information systems, software testing and quality assurance, systems analysis, programming, telecommunications, or a related technically oriented field may substitute for the required education on an equivalent year-for-year basis.

Required Experience
•Four (4) years of full-time directly related, progressively responsible experience in information systems, software testing and quality assurance, systems analysis, programming, or similarly related experience.
•Two (2) years of full-time directly related, progressively responsible experience in software testing and quality assurance or similarly related experience.
•Five (5) years of full-time directly related, progressively responsible experience in information systems, software testing and quality assurance, systems analysis, programming, or related experience.(Senior)
•Three (3) years of full-time directly related, progressively responsible experience in software testing and quality assurance or related experience.(Senior)
•Experience may be concurrent.
•A master's degree or doctoral degree in a directly related field may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis.

Required Registration, Certification, Licensure

•None

Preferred Qualifications
•Experience using automated testing tools.
•Experience with application source control using tools such as Subversion and Team Foundation Server.
•Experience with application and web servers and with integrated development environments (IDE) such as Eclipse and Microsoft Visual Studio.
•Experience testing software developed in-house as well as third party software.
•Experience with web service testing.
•Project management experience.
•Experience forming and leading cross-functional test teams and managing multi-phased test engagements.(Senior)
