The Data Engineer Associate is responsible for assisting with data integration, data analysis, and reporting work. The incumbent will partner with internal and external teams to understand, interpret, and analyze business operations to develop and implement solutions that support the Agency. This position will proactively work with the line of business development teams, IT staff, and agency employees.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Data Integration and Data Analysis
• Assists with defining, developing, and implementing automation of data integration, processes, and interfaces.
• Assists in identifying data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies,and redundancies by analyzing the content, structure, and relationships within data.
• Assists with interpreting data requests or business needs and translating into written requirements.
• May assist in developing and implementing databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
• Compiles accurate data to present reports and assesses data quality.
• Assists in preparing data to support desired metrics monitoring and reports.
• Interprets results to identify significant differences in data.
• Assists in troubleshooting and resolving problems related to systems and applications.
Reporting
• Provides thorough, visible, rigorous, and transparent data reports and analysis.
• Assists with tracking trends and making recommendations for solutions based on findings.
• Assists in interpreting and communicating analytical insights to audiences with various analytical backgrounds using different but suitable communication methods for different audiences.
• Assists in developing visually appealing and intuitive dashboards that provide visibility into key performance, risk and control indicators across agency divisions and departments.
• Delivers quality results and presentations under short timelines.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING

Required Education
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence or a closely related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent and additional full-time experience in data analytics, SQL, SSIS, business intelligence, visualization tools, MS Office Suite or related experience may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis.
 
Required Experience
• One (1) year of full-time experience in data analytics utilizing tools such as SQL, SSIS or business intelligence and visualization tools or MS Office Suite to troubleshoot or recommend business solutions or related experience.
• Experience may be concurrent.
• A master's degree or doctoral degree in a closely related field may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis.
 
Required Registration, Certification, or Licensure
• None.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with MS Power BI or MS Visual Studio.
• Experience working with a star-schema data warehouse or other data analytic data structures.
• Experience with integrations leveraging ETL tools.
• Experience with data migration and/or reconciliation.
• Experience with technical process writing in an application development environment.
• Experience with troubleshooting or development of complex Spreadsheets utilizing formulas to create data analytics.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
• Knowledge of one or more of the following: business intelligence tools, databases, SQL or various job associated programming languages to support data analysis and predictive analytics.
• Database modeling and data warehousing principles.
• Project management and system development life cycle concepts.
• Data manipulation methods that transform dates and accounting concepts that allow for business decision making and analytics
Skills in:
• Experience using technical and statistical analysis skills to deliver clear, concise, and visually appealing management metrics and reports to inform decision making and actions.
• Writing report queries, including an understanding of relational data or set based datasets.
• Using a computer in a Windows environment with Microsoft Office word processing, spreadsheet, and other business software.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Working in a team environment.
Ability to:
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing and shifting priorities.
• Continually learn new concepts and tools to support job needs, and strive for ongoing professional development.
• Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, agency staff, and external contacts.

• Understand the concepts of the pension industry and how data works to support the core line of business.
