The Role
The GIS Technician plays a key role in transforming environmental and field data into accurate, high-quality maps and visualizations that support site investigations, regulatory reporting, and project decision-making.
You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, scientists, and field teams to ensure geospatial data is clean, organized, accurate, and clearly communicated. If you enjoy working with data, maps, and problem-solving across disciplines—this is your lane.
What You’ll Be Doing
Use ESRI GIS software (ArcGIS Pro preferred) to analyze, manage, and visualize geospatial data
Create high-quality maps, figures, and graphics for technical reports, regulatory submittals, and client deliverables
Manage GIS datasets including georeferencing, projections, QA/QC, and file organization
Develop groundwater contour maps, flow direction figures, and environmental visualizations
Support contaminant isoconcentration mapping
Integrate GPS and field-collected data into GIS systems
Troubleshoot data, file, and equipment issues related to GIS and GPS workflows
Upload, download, and organize project data using Trimble Connect
Assist with QA/QC of field data prior to GIS integration
Coordinate with engineers, scientists, project managers, and field staff to accurately represent site conditions
Maintain GIS standards, templates, and data organization practices
Perform occasional field visits for data collection, verification, or project support
Manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and quality expectations
What You Bring
Required
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Geoscience, or a related field
Experience using ESRI GIS software and managing geospatial datasets
Experience integrating GPS or field-collected data into GIS environments
Working knowledge of Trimble Connect
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality
Ability to follow GIS standards while adapting to project needs
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
Nice to Have
Experience with Surfer software for groundwater contouring
Environmental consulting, remediation, oil & gas, or site investigation experience
Familiarity with contaminant isoconcentration mapping and groundwater flow interpretation
Exposure to drone imagery or drone-based mapping workflows
Field data collection or verification experience
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Primarily office-based with periodic field visits
Routine computer and office equipment use
Occasional outdoor fieldwork in varying weather conditions
Sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching
Occasional work on uneven terrain
Light lifting up to 20 pounds
