About this role

takealot.com, South Africa's leading online retailer, is looking for a highly talented  Retail Media Growth Lead to join our Retail Media team in Cape Town.

This position reports to the:  Group Head of Advertising


Your responsibilities will include:



  • Partner with leadership in Retail & Marketplace on overall target.

  • Plan based on GMV evolution and ambitions per category.

  • Identify High/low growth & potential top accounts.

  • Review overall category market share and position for key categories and brands.

  • Annual strategic planning with Retail, Marketplace and Growth Consultant teams.

  • Participate in high level meetings for the brands within the Growth Consultants portfolio.

  • Manage the overall portfolio and identify accounts to move in / out of the portfolio.

  • Unlock category specific event packages (Back to School campaigns for Stationery, House of Beauty, etc) by Collaborating with marketing on the marketing calendar and their initiatives

  • Implementing ‘event only’ campaign elements to sell.

  • Enabling Retail Media as a strategic part of the package.

  • Advise on BAU RMA solutions, Ad Hoc and event specific opportunities (Blue Dot sale).

  • Inspirational strategic leadership.

  • Target management - ensure transparency on achievements & a potential with RMA leadership team.

  • Target management on an individual team member level as well as overall

  • Inspire and lead team to become independent consultants that are empowered to think about long term growth.

  • Management of a team of Growth Strategists across different categories.


Qualification & Experience:



  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Marketing, or Digital Communications.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Client Services or Account Management in a relevant industry like an Advertising agency or SaaS business.

  • Relevant Industry experience, responsible for driving client portfolio growth, with evidence of meeting/ exceeding sales targets.

  • Strong ownership of Campaign Success from ideation to post-campaign analysis.

  • Experience in establishing sales management processes.

  • Experience with CRM tool(s).

  • eCommerce experience is preferred.

  • Demonstrable and tangible Upselling and Cross-selling achievements.


Attributes Required:



  • Fluent in English language (both verbal and written).

  • Publisher, or relevant Industry partner responsible for driving client portfolio growth, with evidence of meeting/ exceeding sales targets.

  • Experience in establishing sales management processes.

  • Experience with CRM tool(s).

  • eCommerce experience is preferred but not required.
