Context

The Traffic and Road Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of traffic and road systems in support of the BRT project in Madinah. This role focuses on optimizing road layouts, improving traffic flow, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation networks within the BRT project scope. GCC experience is mandatory.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Traffic and Road Design:
    • Develop detailed designs for roads and intersections within the BRT corridors.
    • Design road alignments, lanes, intersections, and signals to ensure smooth traffic flow and BRT integration.
    • Perform feasibility studies and prepare conceptual designs for road systems and traffic control.
  • Traffic Analysis and Modeling:
    • Conduct traffic studies to evaluate current and projected traffic volumes and patterns.
    • Use traffic modeling software to assess road capacity, flow, and intersection efficiency.
    • Analyze the impact of BRT operations on the surrounding road network and recommend improvements.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure that designs meet national and international traffic engineering standards and regulations.
    • Conduct safety audits and implement road safety measures within the BRT project scope.
    • Collaborate with the team to ensure that designs align with environmental, safety, and urban planning requirements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with project stakeholders, including city officials, consultants, and contractors, to ensure alignment on project requirements.
    • Coordinate with the project team to manage design changes and ensure timely project delivery.
  • Technical Documentation:
    • Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
    • Provide documentation on design rationale, methodologies, and analysis outcomes.
  • Field Inspections and Quality Control:
    • Conduct field visits to monitor project progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.
    • Perform quality control checks and assist in resolving on-site engineering challenges.
  • Profile/Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
    • Chartered Engineer status or professional registration is preferred.
    • Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience in bridge design and construction, with extensive involvement in large-scale transport infrastructure projects.
    • Prior GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) experience is essential.
    • Strong knowledge of design software (such as SAP2000, ETABS, MIDAS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
    • Excellent understanding of relevant international and GCC-specific codes and standards (AASHTO, Eurocodes, BS, etc.).
    • Proven track record in both design office and site-based roles.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and team management skills.
    • Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
