Context

SYSTRA is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor for rail/metro projects. The ideal candidate will have strong rail project experience, an in-depth understanding of cost management, and a background working with international contracts within a PMC environment. Experience in Saudi Arabia is highly preferred. 

Missions/Main Duties

  • Cost Management:Prepare, monitor, and manage project budgets, estimates, and cost plans throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Valuation:Assess and certify interim valuations, variations, and contractor claims in accordance with contract terms.
  • Measurement:Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities for civil, rail systems, and infrastructure works.
  • Change Management:Evaluate change requests, assess cost implications, and maintain a comprehensive change register.
  • Contract Administration:Support the PMC and client team with review and interpretation of contract documents, conditions of contract, and scope of works.
  • Reporting:Prepare regular cost reports, forecasts, and value engineering analysis for the client and PMC management.
  • Risk Analysis:Identify risks related to cost, contractual issues, and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Procurement Support:Assist in procurement processes, tender analysis, and preparation of recommendations.
  • Final Accounts:Support preparation, negotiation, and agreement of final accounts upon project completion.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:Liaise with contractors, client representatives, and multidisciplinary PMC teams.

Profile/Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ quantity surveying experience in major infrastructure/railway projects.
  • Previous involvement in Project Management Consultancy (PMC) preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of international forms of contract (e.g., FIDIC).
  • Extensive experience in the Middle East; Saudi Arabia experience is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in cost management and quantity surveying software/tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Effective teamwork and stakeholder liaison abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
  • Membership with a professional body (e.g., MRICS) may be an advantage
