The Strategic Division (SD) supports high-reliability organizations including Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, and the Department of Energy (DOE), among others. Our support across our client base is expanding rapidly and encompasses important services, such as data analytics and visualization, threat analysis, risk management, modeling and simulation, cost estimating, earned value management, program management, system engineering, independent evaluation, and High Consequence Event prevention.

 

SPA's Strategic Division's Strategic Development Group (SDG) supports critical U.S. government programs providing Systems Engineering support, Systems Safety support and Financial Analysis support. SDG is hiring immediately for a Systems Engineer in the Washington Navy Yard, DC area.

Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer will provide technical and programmatic support to the Fire Control and Guidance Branch (SP23) within SSP. The Systems Engineer will support SP23 with the management of various technical projects and initiatives, to include:

  • Assisting in the development of program strategies, specifications, and costs, while ensuring compliance with SSP and higher-level requirements and initiatives.
  • Providing technical, schedule, cost, and risk assessments, to include considerations for technical, operational, and programmatic trade-offs.
  • Participating in Critical Design Reviews, Production Readiness Reviews, Production Reviews, Design Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, Program Reviews, and other program-related meetings and reviews.
  • Leading and supporting integrated product teams.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizen with Active DoD SECRET clearance (TOP SECRET strongly preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM (preferably engineering, chemistry, physics, math).
  • Ability to work at Washington Navy Yard.
  • 4+ years of engineering experience on defense programs.
  • Exceptional writing and presentation abilities and self-motivated with strong work ethic, time management, and interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a STEM field.
  • Experience working with Strategic Systems Programs (SSP).
  • Experience with Department of Defense weapon system acquisition or Navy operational experience, ideally related to Navy submarine systems or Strategic Weapon System (SWS) integration, development or testing efforts.
