SPA’s Sea Land Air (SLA) Division supports a diverse portfolio of national security government clients, including the Undersea Enterprise, the Navy Surface Community, the Navy MPTE Enterprise, the Air Force, Army, DoD Agencies, DARPA, international clients including the Canadian Navy and Australian Defence Force. 

 

The Integrated Warfare Systems Group (IWSG), within the SLA Division, comprises more than 80 staff that provide program and project management, systems and digital engineering, software, test & evaluation, logistics, cybersecurity, international/Foreign Military Sales, strategic communications, and IT support numerous Government customers, including Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) Directorates, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), and Office of Naval Research, Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). #FC


Responsibilities

We are seeking a Principal Modeling Engineer to support NAVSEA from SPA’s offices in Washington DC or Dahlgren VA .

The successful candidate will support NAVSEA and be responsible for developing, fielding, and sustaining operationally superior warfare systems and performing the full spectrum of warfare analysis, research, development, integration, test & evaluation, and certification to provide quality systems engineering and integration for the Department of Defense. Position responsibilities include provision of efficient mission and systems engineering in the areas of in-service and future Ship and Combat Systems integration engineering, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), and Land-Based Test Site planning and activation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, business, or technical discipline
  • At least fifteen (15) years of experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and leading a team in the successful completion of moving processes into the digital engineering environment
  • DoD granted SECRET security clearance, and the ability to maintain it throughout employment

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating development activities associated with engineering systems, capabilities, and activities, to include demonstrated experience in functional and system-level requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in employing Agile, Lean, SAFe, and CMMI methodologies in an engineering environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering the full range of MBSE artifacts needed to support deployment of Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) applications, including SysML/UML models of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), requirements and architecture models, and simulation cases
  • Demonstrated experience performing analyses to create and manage requirements and generate specifications to include developing CONOPS and timelines, perform functional decomposition, and/or use case analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with MBSE toolchain, including UML/SysML modeling tools like Cameo, MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the creation of system and subsystem architecture views (functional, physical, power, safety, cybersecurity, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience in DOORS and/or DOORS Next
  • Certification in at least one of the following: Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DODAF), The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), or Six Sigma, or extensive experience in Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS)
