SPA's Integrated Warfare Systems Group (IWSG) comprises more than 100 staff that provide program and project management, systems and digital engineering, software, test & evaluation, product support, cybersecurity, international/Foreign Military Sales, strategic communications, and IT support to more than 100 Above Water Sensor, Undersea, and Combat System programs and projects in the Navy’s Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) and customers in Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Office of Naval Research (ONR), Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the Navy’s Team Submarine Office. #FC


Responsibilities

We are seeking a Principal Engineer to support NAVSEA from SPA’s offices in Washington DC or Dahlgren VA .

 

The successful candidate will support NAVSEA and be responsible for developing, fielding, and sustaining operationally superior warfare systems and performing the full spectrum of warfare analysis, research, development, integration, test & evaluation, and certification to provide quality systems engineering and integration for the Department of Defense. Position responsibilities include provision of efficient mission and systems engineering in the areas of in-service and future Ship and Combat Systems integration engineering, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), and Land-Based Test Site planning and activation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, business, or technical discipline
  • At least fifteen (15) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Combat Systems Cybersecurity; Ship Self Defense System (SSDS); Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Class; Zumwalt Class Destroyer; Aegis Integrated Combat System; Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense; and/or Weapon/Sensor Combat Systems
  • Active DoD SECRET security clearance

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating development activities associated with engineering systems, capabilities, and activities
  • Demonstrated expreience conducting detailed and complex systems engineering, including functional and system-level requirements analysis, requirements generation, and technical community review
  • Demonstrated experience in Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) or DOORS Next
  • Demonstrated experience in developing Functional Area Assessments (FAAs) and working with Mission Area Assessments (MAAs) in relation to engineering tasks
