About the Role:

The Business Services team in Corporate Solutions Operations is looking for an open-minded Underwriting Associate with a can-do spirit to be based in Kuala Lumpur. You will be responsible for primarily supporting the underwriting team as part of our commercial corporate business.

The role involves high interaction and coordination with underwriters and other internal/external departments, both locally and overseas.

Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Setting up and finalizing policies in various systems (underwriting, pricing, invoices etc.) ensuring data accuracy.
  • To support the Underwriting team with renewal preparation (deal analysis of renewal account) and endorsement triaging and preparation.
  • Handling of closings and contract changes.
  • Preparation of policy documentations.
  • Creating and maintaining records both electronically, if required, following established guidelines and processes.
  • Handling underwriting tasks, renewals, quotes, endorsements including Broker engagement where required.
  • To be in contact with your brokers and customers on a regular basis and attend broker and customer meeting where needed.
  • Providing support in premium handling, monitoring, and chasing.
  • Collaborating with outsourced providers on queries and issues.
  • Development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Modifying, updating, and processing changes in applicable tools, systems, and documents, as needed; and
  • Participating in and leading small projects, as required.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage customer expectation and provide guidance to team members
  • Responsible for internal reporting when needed
  • Support Line Manager when required

 

About You:

  • Previous Insurance experience (minimum 3-5 years) required, ideally with some exposure to underwriting.
  • Must be fully proficient with English (reading, written and verbal)
  • Strong customer focus and service orientation
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated collaborative approach in successfully working in globally located team situations in a matrix environment, understanding and exhibiting sensitivity to cultural differences.
  • Ability to work on complex problems and review related detailed information to participate in developing and evaluating options and assisting in implementing solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with internal and external people in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to identify, evaluate, report and work on complex problems
  • A strong team player with ability to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and integrity
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented individual who demonstrates initiative and can work independently with moderate oversight from managers
  • Agile, solutions and results oriented individual with an ability to multi-task
