About the role

  • Develop and implement Proof of Concepts, Minimum Viable Products/Pilots and operational solutions for the building blocks of Specialty Digital projects (eg. Contracts, reporting, accounting, claims and costing tools)
  • Work and collaborate with developer teams inside and outside of SwissRe
  • Use best practices in Software Engineering and Operations.
  • Work closely with UX, product, architecture and engineering teams in delivering solutions.
  • Do hands-on software development in the relevant coding languages

Our team is an empowered tech counterpart for our business units, responsible for the design and implementation of inventive data and software projects. We develop new analytics and software tools and improve Swiss Re's risk assessment capabilities. Joining us, you will learn not only how insurance premiums are modelled and how data and technology can enrich business but also the technologies that are used in modern SaaS applications and in an internal system landscape with a focus on cloud technology and distributed systems. You will be the one responsible for enabling our business to live up to the aspirations and therefore you will contribute significantly to the success of the company.

Must have:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in quantitative science (data, computer, engineering)
  • Experience in software development following agile delivery concepts (e.g. SCRUM and Kanban)
  • Hands-on coding knowledge in at least one of C#, Typescript/Angular, Python or Go is essential.
  • Team-player with credibility and working style to build positive relationships and support an open feedback culture.
  • Able to balance multiple projects in parallel, exchange with senior partners and build consensus.
  • Able to communicate sophisticated concepts in a compelling, concise, and simple way, with good (written and verbal) interpersonal skills in English and ability to work independently and proactively.

 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Cloud-Native solution architecture / design pattern and platforms (e.g. AKS, App Service on Azure, Docker, Frontend/Micro-Frontend / BFF-Backend for Frontend / Microservice Architecture with RESTful APIs, event-based/message-based architecture, Azure Data Services such as Data Factory, Data Lake, Synapse Analytics and other products; DevOps with Terraform, Application Insights and other PaaS features on Azure; Security with OAuth/OIDC, Okta, AAD, Cloudflare WAF, .NET Framework) is a strong plus
  • You have strong entrepreneurial spirit, showing high degree of own initiative, pragmatism and result focus.
  • Insurtech experience is a strong plus.
  • You have a sound background in data analytics, demonstrate strong analytical skills and can focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
  • Knowledge of (facultative/direct insurance) underwriting is a plus.
  • Strong desire to work in virtual, multi-national, multi-cultural, cross-company and cross-functional teams, and to be mobile in terms of workplace or location if required.

 

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between [EUR 2,800] and [EUR 4,600] per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:​

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role, ​
  • the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.​

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.​

Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.
