About the role

 

We are seeking an Engineering Lead, to lead our team responsible for Legal, Compliance and Group Management (Corporate Secretariat) applications.

As an Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for designing, building and operating products within the Legal, Compliance and Group Management portfolio that majorly consists of SaaS/COTS integrations and a few custom full-stack solutions. The role will require hands-on technical and thought leadership along with people management skills.

 

The role includes the following responsibilities:

 

  • Architect technical solutions. Provide design decisions on developing, integrating and managing applications.
  • Oversee the technical direction of projects/initiatives, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry best practices.
  • Be a catalyst leader and line manager for your engineers. Guide them with your tech expertise and help them improve their skills.
  • Co-lead your squad (internal and external engineers) with the Product Owner fostering an agile spirit.
  • Act as a liaison between the engineering team and other teams, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Work hands-on in your squad and stay on top of new technologies.
  • Peer-review other architectures ensuring we keep our technical work top-quality. Implement and maintain high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and drive initiatives to enhance team efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding of squad members together with the Product Owner.

 

About the team

 

We are responsible for Swiss Re's Legal & Compliance, Audit, Group Management, Procurement and parts of the Finance applications. We work in a scaled agile model with shared leadership teams and broad aligned autonomy for our squads. About you

 

You are passionate about technology. You are flexible and open-minded, committed with an ability to learn new skills quickly. You enjoy leading people and solving problems in creative ways.

  • A university degree in computer science, engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • 10+ years of experience in designing and implementing cloud-native technical solutions with proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
  • Experience with the Azure platform is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge in selecting, configuring and integrating 3rd party SaaS or COTS solutions as well as coordinating the development of such solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering innovative solutions.
  • Sound experience in creating applications with global regulations and data protection guidelines
  • A passion for leading people with your interpersonal skills, through listening, inspiring, encouraging as well as giving/receiving feedback
  • Detailed real-world experience with DevOps practices and agile methodologies.
  • Outstanding communication skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Experience with building and implementing AI solutions is a plus.
