JOB TITLE: People Operations Partner “POPS” – Full-Time

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA & Atlanta, GA – Hybrid (2 Open Positions)

TRAVEL: Moderate (26-50%)

COMPENSATION: $60,000-$70,000

 

What you’ll do:

At SCA, you’ll play a key role in driving our mission to keep communities clean and safe across the country. As a People Operations Partner “POPS”, you’ll help shape operations, support our dedicated field teams, and deliver critical services that make a visible impact every day. Whether you're leading people, optimizing processes, or providing essential support, your work will contribute directly to our success—and to the communities we proudly serve.

 

Your daily impact:

The job responsibilities below outline the core duties and expectations of a position, providing clarity on how the role supports Company goals. However, as business needs evolve, these responsibilities may shift over time to reflect new priorities, processes, or technologies:

  • Employee Resource: Be a trusted go-to for employees—answering questions, offering guidance, and supporting great employee experiences.
  • Manager Coach: Partner with leaders to navigate people challenges, build confidence, and lead effectively.
  • Performance-Focused: Support performance reviews, feedback conversations, and growth plans that drive results.
  • Employee Relations: Assist with employee relations matters with fairness, consistency, and a people-first mindset.
  • Change Management: Help leaders and teams navigate change with clear communication, structure, and support.
  • HR Systems & Data: Leverage HR systems and people data to inform decisions, spot trends, and improve processes.
  • SCA Expert: Serve as a subject-matter expert on People Ops programs, policies, and practices.
  • HR Trainer: Deliver engaging training on HR topics, policies, and people best practices.
  • Policy Adherence: Apply policies consistently while balancing business needs and employee experience.
  • State & Federal Law: Use working knowledge of employment laws to support compliance and reduce risk.
  • Regular & Predictable Attendance: The ability to consistently report to work on time and as scheduled, with minimal unexcused absences. This includes being present and prepared to work throughout assigned shifts, and reliably adhering to start times, breaks, and end times.

 

Minimum job requirements:

Minimum job qualifications define the essential skills, experience, and abilities needed to succeed in the role. They set the baseline for hiring but may evolve as the job and business requirements change:

  • Experience: 1 year of HR Generalist experience
  • Industry Experience: Waste Management / Driver experience a plus
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field

Physical requirements & travel:

Physical requirements outline the essential on-the-job demands needed to perform the role safely and effectively.

  • Lifting: Up to 15 lbs. (examples office supplies, files, small equipment)
  • Sitting/Standing: Primarily desk-based with occasional standing or walking
  • Dexterity: Ability to use computers, phones, and standard office equipment
  • Visual & Auditory: Normal or corrected vision and hearing sufficient for office work
  • Travel: Minimal, occasional local travel may be required for meetings or site visits
