About this role

Company Description

At Summerset, from the moment we start developing a village, to when our residents call it home, it’s the passion and dedication of our people that brings our villages to life. We are one team united by being part of something bigger – to bring the best of life to our residents.

Job Description

We’re looking for a hands-on, reliable and experienced Gardener to join our Warkworth village, where you be supporting the Property Manager with the day-to-day maintenance of the village gardens and outdoor areas. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in helping to create attractive landscapes, and values working in a community-focused environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain attractive, well‑kept gardens and outdoor areas, following the village’s landscaping plans.
  • Keep all buildings, grounds, and shared spaces clean, tidy, and safe, including managing rubbish removal in line with local requirements.
  • Work closely with the Property and Village Managers to plan and report on maintenance tasks and budgets.
  • Support a positive village environment by being professional and welcoming, collaborating well with others, and applying the relevant health, safety, and village legislation.

This is a 12‑month fixed‑term, part‑time role, working two days per week, which can be fixed between Monday and Friday.

Qualifications

Ideally, you’ll bring experience in gardening or landscaping and relevant horticultural qualification—but what matters most to us is your genuine passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces and your warm, respectful approach to people from all walks of life.

You’ll be a team player who can also work independently, managing your time effectively to ensure daily tasks are completed to a high standard. Being well-organised, efficient, and physically fit will help you thrive in this hands-on role and deliver great service to our residents.

At Summerset, we believe diversity strengthens our team and enriches the care we provide. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and walks of life—including those with transferable skills from other industries. You may not tick all the requirements, and that’s okay; we value what you bring to the table and look at the whole individual. We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported to thrive.

Equal opportunity is at the heart of how we recruit, and we encourage you to bring your unique perspective and passion to our team.
