Roles & Responsibilities


The Technical Theater Production Supervisor is a school-based role that additionally oversees and provides supplemental guidance for all K-12 technical theatre-based objectives, including set design, lighting design, and sound design. This coach will be salary-based and required to attend rehearsals that take place after school-based hours and occasionally other duties during the day, affiliated with the assembly of productions and teacher development. This role is managed by the Theatre Program Manager.


Responsibilities include pre-professional technical theatre training for theatre teachers across the network, assisting students with



  • Building of sets and props

  • Designing and programming lighting

  • Sound design and sound needs

  • Helping to implement the technical theatre curriculum at all schools.  


This coach will be required to visit all school locations and their corresponding classes/theatre staff at least twice a year (preferably during production times) and provide feedback to staff on how to level up their use of technical theatre both in the classroom and when presenting final products. This network-based role will provide weekly recaps to the Theatre Program Manager as well as Joseph Powell, head of Scholar Talent. 


In this role, you will



  • Build a classroom culture in which scholars develop a love of technical theater;

  • Collaborate with Theater Teachers across the network to build world-class theater programs with high production values;

  • Act as project manager for large scale Technical Theater events including components in scenic design, lighting, sound, and involving large groups of key stakeholders;

  • Offer training and support in the technical arts to Theatre Teachers;

  • Engage students with a variety of technical theatre skills including, but not limited to carpentry, scenic painting, rigging, prop making, light programming, sound mixing, and maintenance of equipment;

  • Design and execute professional-quality sets with lighting and sound elements to match;

  • Have leadership experience (i.e., technical director for a theatrical institute or company);

  • Pay strong attention to detail, and have experience juggling multiple responsibilities and planning around competing priorities;

  • Have experience working with a group of children;

  • Embody the character traits we value in our ETHOS - Excellence, Teamwork, Humor, Ownership, and making sure our Scholars are top of mind;

  • A 2-year or 4-year degree is a plus, but it is not mandatory.

  • Have a valid driver’s license.


 

Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.

Compensation Range
$65,000$65,000 USD
