Branch/Unit Description:
The Parks Conservancy’s Innovation and Impact Hub is nested in the Executive Branch and is a department within our organization dedicated to driving informed decision-making, fostering a culture of evaluation, and measuring our impact. The Innovation and Impact Hub establishes organizational processes, systems, and tools to support this collaborative work across the Conservancy and park partners. The team manages data tools to capture key insights on visitors, programs, and organizational metrics, and analyzes park-wide data to generate impact reports. This position will work on various projects within the Community Database ecosystem, a Salesforce-based system housing contact and programmatic data for the park’s volunteer programs, youth programs, community engagement programs, internships, and internal trainings. With over 8,000 volunteers, over 1,400 youth program participants, and over 100 interns in the park annually, the Community Database is a critical reporting and data management tool for our parkwide programs.
Position Overview:
This is a non-exempt, six-month position of 32 hours /week.
We are looking for a highly organized and data-driven individual to work on various projects within our Salesforce database ecosystem. Our Salesforce database (the Community Database) is a critical hub for programmatic data across the park, supporting our ability to report on and track programmatic goals and organizational initiatives, while also serving day-to-day functions such as registration. With over 700 users, the Community Database is a complex system that is core to park program operations.
The Community Database Intern will work with the Senior Database Administrator on key impactful projects for the system such as developing reports & dashboards; mass data cleaning; data imports; data analysis; creating documentation; and deploying new database infrastructure and automation. The intern will have the opportunity to learn about the Salesforce platform via Salesforce Trailhead trainings and other resources to work on these projects. The intern will also interface with park staff that use the Community Database, answering common questions, understanding their needs for the system, and synthesizing their feedback into actionable and scalable tasks. Interns are also required to take part in professional development activities throughout the parks and will have the opportunity to join networking events with fellow park interns.
