Purpose of Job
The Project, R&D Engineering, performs implant, instrument and manufacturing equipment design work, maintaining products throughout the entire lifecycle. Actively participates on, multifunctional teams to advance assigned projects through the design/development and change process.
Usually works with some supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.
Key responsibilities
Model and detail implant and instrumentation designs utilizing CAD software and Windchill PLM software.
Apply standards and GD&T to create, modify and check technical documentation (e.g. 2D drawings)
Create and maintain fixtures and inspection equipment.
Develop and manage project plans and timelines within the scope of the Design and Change Control guidelines.
Write technical reports and perform standard assessments.
Optimize and automate processes.
Utilize and manage the design change process by:
Coordinating R&D activities pertaining to change requests
Gathering information pertinent to the assigned product change
Undertaking Technical Reports & Assessments
Updating existing DHF documentation as result of change requests.
Actively participate in cross functional teams for tasks and projects.

Computer literacy
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related.
Experience
Special knowledge
1-2 years of product design experience in the medical device industry or equivalent are preferred
Familiarity of design controls within a regulated industry.
Demonstrated experience with a parametric CAD package.
Technical depth.
Personal attributes
Demonstrated ability to achieve work objectives both independently and as a leader/member of a work team.
Ability to make decisions as needed.
