The company completed an initial public offering (IPO) in February 2023. With offices in California and Shanghai, Structure Therapeutics has the benefit of being at the center of life science innovation in both the US and China and capitalizing on the strengths of each geographic location.

Position Summary:

StructureTx is seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist / Associate Director (Biology) to support and advance internal drug discovery programs in metabolic diseases. This role will focus on high-quality experimental execution, in vitro assay development, CRO management, and clear, timely communication in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment. The successful candidate will translate complex biology and pharmacology data into concise conclusions and actionable next steps to keep discovery milestones moving in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize and execute robust cell-based/biochemical assays for discovery pharmacology, delivering reproducible, well-controlled datasets with clear documentation (e.g., cAMP, Ca²⁺ flux, β-arrestin, reporter assays; binding as applicable).
  • Build and run fit-for-purpose assay cascades (primary/secondary, counterscreens, mechanistic follow-up) to support drug discovery projects.
  • Manage external work with CROs/partners: define scope and deliverables, coordinate tech transfer, track timelines/budgets, and ensure data quality.
  • Communicate study plans, results, limitations, and recommendations effectively to multi-functional stakeholders.
  • Produce clear written outputs (protocols, reports, slide decks) and present data with transparency and strong scientific rigor.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related field, with ≥5 years post-PhD experience in pharma/biotech drug discovery.
  • Proven hands-on ability to develop and troubleshoot biology assays for discovery programs.
  • Experience in GPCR pharmacology and/or metabolic disease biology, including disease-relevant models and/or pathway biology.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage CROs/vendors and deliver high-quality results on schedule.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, effective in cross-functional teams, and able to perform under pressure while maintaining scientific rigor.
