A Brief Overview
Assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients through the therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. The delivery of professional nursing care at Stormont Vail Health is guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the theory of Shared governance, both of which are congruent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Evaluates and monitors patients' hemodynamic and clinical status while administering medications and providing appropriate nursing interventions based on accurate nursing assessments during diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology procedure room. Assists physicians during procedures utilizing appropriate sterile technique and moderate sedation. Job duties may be performed during regular working hours or on call.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science: Nursing (BSN) Preferred


Experience Qualifications

  • Experience in Cath Lab, Critical Care, or Emergency - Cardiac Cath Lab Experience in Telemetry, Cath Lab/IR, Critical Care, or Emergency - IR. Required

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. (Required proficiency)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse - KSBN A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted. Required

  • Basic Life Support - BLS Must have within 90 days of hire.

  • RQI, CPR or ACLS certifications may be required in lieu of or in addition to BLS depending on department.


What you will do

  • Provides direct patient care as defined within the scope of the state’s nurse practice act. Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiological and cognitive status. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.

  • Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential problems, and issues.

  • Develops a collaborative plan encompassing strategies to achieve expected outcomes.

  • Implements identified plan through coordination of care and employes strategies to promote health and wellness.

  • Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.

  • Delivers professional nursing care guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring illustrated by creating caring relationships, taking time to have uninterrupted moments with patients and displaying unconditional acceptance and respect.

  • Promotes a mutually respectful environment that encourages the exchange of ideas and supports the effectiveness of professional relationships and integrates ethics in all aspects of practice.
