Title: Maintenance Plumber  

Location: Houston, Texas 

FLSA: Non-Exempt 

Status: full-time

Reports to: Chief Engineer 

 

Pay: $35.00 

Job Summary:   The Maintenance Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of all plumbing systems throughout the hotel to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations. This role includes diagnosing and resolving issues related to water supply lines, drainage systems, fixtures, boilers, and related equipment in guest rooms, kitchens, laundry areas, and public spaces. The Hotel Plumber works closely with the engineering and maintenance team to respond promptly to service requests, perform preventive maintenance, and support emergency repairs while complying with local building codes, safety standards, and hotel service expectations to maintain guest comfort and operational excellence.

 

Essential Functions and Duties: 

  • Provide professional and courteous service at all times. 

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, fixtures, and equipment throughout guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities

  • Diagnose plumbing issues, including leaks, clogs, water pressure problems, and malfunctioning fixtures, and implement timely repairs

  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure plumbing systems operate efficiently and to reduce service disruptions

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations to minimize guest inconvenience and property damage

  • Install and replace pipes, valves, fittings, fixtures, and related plumbing components as needed

  • Ensure all work complies with local plumbing codes, safety regulations, and hotel standards

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance performed, and materials used

  • Coordinate with engineering, housekeeping, and management teams to support overall hotel operations.

  • Identify and report potential plumbing issues or system upgrades to management.

  • Assist with maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, A/C units, and hotel equipment. 

  • Monitor electric, gas, and water consumption and report issues as needed. 

  • Ensure all maintenance projects are completed on time and according to specifications. 

  • Practice safety procedures, including lockout-tagout, in accordance with OSHA standards. 

  • Perform preventative maintenance in guest rooms and public areas as scheduled. 

  • Conduct maintenance checks of equipment and properly log findings. 

  • Report all safety and security concerns to the Chief Engineer or Manager on Duty immediately. 

  • Maintain key inventory and ensure security procedures are followed. 

  • Respond to emergency situations and assist as needed.

  • Participate in ongoing maintenance programs for event spaces, public areas, and hotel equipment. 

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workspaces and storage areas.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills: 

  • Basic knowledge of maintenance systems, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, and electrical systems. 

  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment. 

  • Familiarity with safety procedures, including lockout-tagout, is preferred. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management. 

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a timely manner. 

Work Environment: 

  • Work involves both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying temperatures. 

  • Frequent walking, standing, and lifting of objects up to 50 lbs. 

  • Exposure to noise, vibration, and mechanical equipment during maintenance tasks. 

  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required, with potential on-call responsibilities for emergencies.
