Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000, potential quarterly bonus
Job Summary: The Chief Engineer oversees the maintenance operations of the hotel, ensuring all systems, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, and energy controls, are functioning efficiently. This role manages maintenance staff and contractors, ensuring compliance with safety standards and timely completion of projects to maintain guest satisfaction and hotel operations.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Provide professional and courteous guest service at all times.
Supervise maintenance operations, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, A/C units, lighting, and fire/life safety systems.
Monitor and manage energy consumption (electric, gas, oil, water) for efficiency.
Oversee contracted services (electrical, plumbing, cleaning) to meet hotel standards and guest expectations.
Supervise maintenance staff, including hiring, training, evaluations, and scheduling.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all maintenance projects according to specifications.
Coordinate with Housekeeping and Security on operations, key control, and safety procedures.
Assist with project planning and work closely with architects and contractors on bids and blueprints.
Manage maintenance agreements and contracts, including landscaping and snow removal.
Develop and maintain maintenance programs for guest rooms, public spaces, and hotel equipment.
Perform inventory management, purchasing duties, and budget development for the department.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of workspaces and attend meetings as required by the General Manager.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills:
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in hotel engineering or maintenance management.
Strong knowledge of systems including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, and energy controls.
Proven ability to manage maintenance staff and contractors, including hiring, training, and evaluation.
Experience with budgeting, inventory management, and purchasing for maintenance operations.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle emergency situations effectively.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail in project planning and execution.
Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with other departments, vendors, and management.
Familiarity with safety and compliance protocols, including training staff on emergency procedures.
Work Environment:
Work involves both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying temperatures.
Frequent walking, standing, and lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
Exposure to noise, vibration, and mechanical equipment during maintenance tasks.
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, with potential on-call responsibilities for emergencies.
