Job Description
Stepan is seeking a Lab Clerk to join our Research & Development team in Northfield, IL. In this role, you will report to the EHS&S Manager. This individual is responsible for supporting the Research & Development Labs with glassware, chemical waste, and stocking requests. As part of the R&D Team, this person will work with all R&D Department to ensure the safety & efficiency of the labs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Washes lab glassware, fills solvent containers, stocks lab supplies, and empties glassware bins for Northfield R&D
- Provides chemical waste disposal support for Northfield R&D
- Responds to requests from laboratory staff
- Actively participates in safety/waste programs and steadfastly adheres to safety policies/standards
- Participates in the upkeep and inspections of the Chemical Waste Room, the Flammable Supply Room, and the Lab Supply Room in Northfield R&D
- Backup for Northfield and Northbrook Shipping Departments
- Backup for Customer Sampling Program
- Ensure OSHA, RCRA, DOT, IATA Compliance
Qualifications
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office and willing to learn specific database and web applications
- Must be able to work in Northfield and Northbrook Offices
- Must be able to balance multiple job demands
- Must have an attention to detail and possess good organization skills
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to maneuver 55 gallon drums
Education
- High School Diploma required, Bachelors Degree Preferred
- Previous Laboratory experience preferred.

Pay Range: $46,000 - $58,000
The salary range for this position is determined by considering a variety of factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and the location of the position.
