About this role

 

Stellantis Tech Research’s Propulsion Controls department is seeking an experienced controls engineer to lead and develop high-quality controls algorithms and solutions. We are looking for top talent to continue the development of disruptive Propulsion technologies for Stellantis while also collaborating with our research partners. We are seeking an Engineer with experience in control systems, particularly in propulsion or vehicle control systems development. The candidate must be a strong team player, quick learner, out-of-the-box thinker, systems-focused with interdisciplinary experience and drive to challenge the status quo. The candidate must be willing to work in a disruptive yet fast-paced environment. The candidate should be very efficient and clear at communicating by virtual methods and must be willing to follow a detailed work plan and be prepared to generate elaborate project reports.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to significantly contribute in many of the following areas:

  • Classical and Modern control systems
  • Energy management and charging systems
  • Vehicle controls (chassis, brake regen, ride control)
  • Data science based controls techniques like AI/ML
  • Electrified Propulsion or Engine controls
  • Utilization of sensors in feedback and feedforward control strategies
  • Integrated Propulsion control (torque characterization, engine/motor/transmission interactions)
  • Propulsion optimization strategies
  • Auxiliary load management and optimization
  • Thermal characterization and thermal management
  • Energy efficiency and performance optimization
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Applied Science, Control System, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in controls, calibration, or systems engineering 
  • Experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving
  • Experience in electrified propulsion systems or control theory
  • Experience with automotive powertrain plant and controller modeling, simulation
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated application of technical excellence

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or related Engineering field from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent program
  • Understanding of classical and modern control disciplines with vehicle application
  • EV/Propulsion system calibration and/or embedded software experience
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as ASCMO, MDA
  • Experience with modeling tools such as GT Power, AmeSim, or other controls related co-simulation
  • Experience with prototyping tools from dSpace or ETAS
  • Experience in Research organization
