About this role

The eMotor Controls Development Engineer will work within the Electrified Components Product Release Center (PRC), contributing to the development of next-generation BEV and hybrid propulsion control systems, while also supporting the maintenance of current Stellantis products. 

 

Specific Job Duties:

  • Interpret and analyze high-level requirements to ensure alignment with intended vehicle-level behavior.
  • Develop and implement control algorithms for electric motor applications within powertrain systems using MATLAB-Simulink and C/C++
  • Process data received via communication network and validate them using standardized methods 
  • Support diagnostic development and OBD compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 functional safety standards.
  • Perform Pre-verification of the implementation through Model In The Loop (MIL) testing and Pre-verification of the generated code, through Software in the Loop (SIL) testing
  • Develop proto software builds as required and validate on  Hardware In the Loop ( HIL) , Dynamometer or vehicle  using ETAS INCA tools;
  • Own DVP&R’s for assigned SWCs and perform updates when SW content is updated.  
  • Analyze and provide timely response/solutions to the tracked issues;
  • Develop & maintain controls` design documents for assigned software components.
  • Participate and contribute in daily scrum meetings, regularly track SW development using Agile methodology , actively participate in Big room planning activities and sprint planning sessions

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering or related degree field
  • Minimum of 5-year experience in the following:
    • Engine or electric Motor Controls development in MATLAB/Simulink auto-coding environment
  • AUTOSAR software development experience using DSPACE SystemDesk and RTE
  • Demonstrated technical problem solving
  • Demonstrated working level experience in decomposing intended function into controls design documents
  • Strong overall knowledge of vehicle and powertrain functions
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, development, testing, calibration and/or validation
  • Outstanding interpersonal and problem-solving skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in with emphasis in core Motor controls, power electronics, and electrical machines.
  • Embedded C++ programming
  • Analysis of CAN logs, including message counter and CRC calculation and verification
  • Controls design experience to meet ISO 26262 functional safety compliance.
  • Design For Six Sigma green belt, Reactive Problem-Solving green belt 
  • Proven experience in setting up use cases to analyze large amount of data for prognostics or tuning purposes using AI techniques
