Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and analytically driven Treasury Analyst to support the company’s liquidity management, banking operations, and cash forecasting processes. This role is responsible for executing payments, optimizing cash positioning, and delivering treasury reporting, while working closely with Accounting—who maintain full ownership of bank reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Liquidity & Cash Flow Management

  • Monitor and update daily cash positions across multiple bank accounts and entities, ensuring sufficient funds for day-to-day operations.
  • Assist in preparing short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts by gathering data and validating key assumptions with Finance and Operations.
  • Highlight expected cash surpluses or shortfalls and support recommendations for intercompany funding, short-term investments, or credit facility drawdowns/repayments.
  • Maintain up-to-date schedules of debt and interest payments, supporting tracking of credit facility utilization and upcoming maturities.
  • Provide basic analysis on working capital drivers (collections, disbursements timing) and flag unusual trends to the Assistant-Treasurer.

2. Payment Execution

  • Prepare and initiate electronic payments (wires, EFTs, intercompany transfers) in accordance with approved payment runs and authorization hierarchies.
  • Verify payment support documentation and approvals to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal controls.
  • Maintain banking templates and beneficiary information, ensuring changes are properly documented and approved.
  • Support user access management on banking platforms (set-up, changes, deactivations) under the guidance of Finance leadership.
  • Escalate any unusual or high-value payment items, discrepancies, or errors promptly.

3. Treasury Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare recurring treasury reports, including daily cash summaries and weekly liquidity reports, ensuring data is accurate and delivered on time.
  • Assist in preparing monthly treasury dashboards and related analytics for management review.
  • Support basic variance analysis of actual cash flows versus forecast and help document explanations for key variances.
  • Compile data and assist in simple cash flow or scenario analyses (e.g., changes in volume, timing shifts) under the direction of senior team members.
  • Help prepare treasury-related materials for internal stakeholders such as Finance, Management, and external auditors.

4. Banking Operations & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as a first point of contact for routine banking matters (payment status, file rejections, administrative questions) and escalate more complex issues as needed.
  • Assist with the administrative aspects of opening, closing, and maintaining bank accounts (KYC documentation, signatory forms, etc.).
  • Work closely with the Accounting team—who retain full responsibility for bank reconciliations and journal entries—to ensure clear communication on daily cash movements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Finance, Tax, Legal, and Operations on treasury-related tasks and information requests.
  • Gather data and support reviews of banking fees and services to help identify optimization opportunities.

5. Risk Management & Compliance

  • Adhere to segregation of duties requirements for payment initiation, approval, and reconciliation, and promptly report any control issues identified.
  • Follow established treasury policies and procedures (e.g., payment controls, authorized signatories, investment limits).
  • Assist with the preparation of documentation and evidence for internal and external audits related to treasury activities.
  • Help maintain organized and complete records for payments, bank accounts, and treasury transactions to support compliance and traceability.
  • Support monitoring of key covenants, limits, and internal guidelines by updating trackers and reports as requested.

6. Process Improvement & Project Support

  • Support automation initiatives and system enhancements by performing data validation, basic testing, and documentation of changes.
  • Help maintain and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for treasury tasks, ensuring they remain current and practical.
  • Participate in small projects related to cash pooling, payment process optimization, and efficiency improvements within the treasury function.
  • Identify recurring issues or manual workarounds in daily tasks and propose ideas to simplify or strengthen processes.
  • Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT) and implementation activities for new treasury tools, bank platforms, or process changes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 1–3 years of experience in treasury, cash management, or financial operations.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel; familiarity with ERP or treasury management systems is an asset.
  • High integrity and strong process compliance mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across functions.
