Job Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Shipping Supervisor is responsible for managing the operations of the Shipping Department during the evening shift, while ensuring a high level of occupational health and safety (OHS), quality, and operational efficiency.

The incumbent will supervise a team of approximately 10 unionized employees, a team expected to grow in the coming months. The role plays a key part in planning, work allocation, and employee engagement within a Lean manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, coach, and motivate the shipping team to ensure priorities and deadlines are met.

• Promote a safe work environment and ensure strict compliance with occupational health and safety rules.

• Manage daily workforce activities, including attendance, replacements, performance monitoring, training, and disciplinary actions as required.

• Participate in the onboarding and development of new employees.

• Coordinate shipping and receiving activities based on production needs.

• Maintain departmental production and performance reports.

• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and contribute to process optimization.

• Foster a positive work environment based on respect, communication, and collaboration.

Work Schedule:

• Evening shift: Monday to Friday, 3:15 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. (start time may be adjusted based on operational needs).

• Day shift training at the start of employment.

Qualifications:

• College diploma (DEC) or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Transportation Logistics, or a related field;

• 3 to 5 years of experience supervising staff in a unionized environment;

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, initiative, sense of responsibility, teamwork, attention to detail, and accuracy;

• Excellent leadership, positive attitude, good listening skills, and sound judgment;

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills;

• Ability to work under pressure and strong stress tolerance;

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software;

• Knowledge of SAP and Dayforce is considered an asset;

• Good knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations;

• Bilingual in English and French, both spoken and written, to facilitate communication with internal and external English-speaking stakeholders.
