Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, the Production Manager plans, organizes, directs, controls, and evaluates the activities of the plant’s various departments (Planning, Production, Shipping, Maintenance) to ensure the company meets its production objectives within established budgetary standards, while maintaining healthy labor relations with production employees.
Responsibilities:
Master and ensure the application of LEAN Manufacturing methods implemented within the organization (SMED, DMS, KPIs, etc.).
Establish, in collaboration with the Plant Manager, performance objectives for the Manufacturing, Shipping, Maintenance, and Yard/Planning Supervisors.
Participate with the Plant Manager and Supervisors in the creation and monitoring of Master Plans for Manufacturing, Shipping, Maintenance, and Yard/Planning.
Ensure strong coordination and supervision between supervisors and their teams across all three shifts (day, evening, night).
Actively participate in shift start meetings to align teams on operational priorities.
Provide support to shop-floor teams and coach supervisors and team leads to develop their management and performance leadership skills.
Ensure compliance with daily, weekly, and monthly production plans.
Lead the problem-solving committee (PSP) to track action items and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Monitor performance indicators, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
Support training, development, and cross-training of operations personnel.
Implement and enforce company policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring strong communication between operations teams and other departments.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, CAPEX deployment, and report progress to the Plant Manager.
Ensure harmonious labor relations, compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and the collective agreement.
Actively participate in projects related to health, safety, and environmental initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:
Technical or university education in engineering, industrial management, or a related field.
Experience in supervision or operational management within the steel industry or manufacturing.
Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, prioritization, and conflict-resolution skills.
Knowledge of production processes and industrial safety standards.
Experience in a unionized environment (strong asset).
Experience in the steel industry (major asset).
Strong knowledge of continuous improvement tools (LEAN Manufacturing).
7–10 years of experience in production management.
Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office).
Knowledge of SAP (strong asset).
Bilingual in English and French, both spoken and written, to ensure effective communication with unilingual employees and other North American plants.
