Position Summary

 

The General Labourer is responsible for branding, framing, inspecting and preparing product for treatment.

Unionized environment.

Responsibilities

 

  • Inspects product for compliance to standards.
  • Modifies products’ length or surface using chainsaw.
  • Brand and tag product to specifications.
  • Re-classify product as required and record re-classifications accurately.
  • Safe and responsible operation of company equipment at all times.
  • Clean-up of working area.
  • Abides to OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) workplace health and safety standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Forklift experience and asset.
  • Minimum one year of related experience.
  • Power tool experience required (chainsaw, drill etc.)
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of utility pole and customer standards an asset.
  • Time and stress management.
  • Ability to perform the tasks without causing damage to product or equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible regarding work assignments.
  • Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions. 
  • Basic Math Skills.
