Position Overview

OMG currently operates in two Divisions: OMG Roofing Products and FastenMaster®. OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry. The FastenMaster Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier. The New Product Development team is focused on developing compelling and innovative new products, and improving our existing products to better meet the needs of professional contractors and building specifiers in the markets we serve.  You will use a gated development process and Six Sigma tools.  This highly rewarding position is responsible for whole project management – from concept to launch, including timeline management, cross-organization communications, and overall team management.

 

 

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Promote Safety as the Number One priority of all OMG employees.
  • Creation and management of project team.
  • Identification of customer needs.
  • Developing innovative designs and bringing them to market.
  • Managing and driving overall project timeline with urgency.
  • Communicating project timelines and progress throughout the organization including periodic reviews with Senior Management.
  • Developing cost models and overall business justification with marketing assistance.
  • Competitive product evaluation.
  • Coordination of lab testing.
  • Final design selection.
  • Intellectual property protection.
  • Ensuring manufacturability compliance.
  • Supply Chain coordination with Supply Group.
  • Ensuring Quality System development with QA Department.
  • Promotion of Lean Principles.
  • Participant in other team projects.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

 

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering
  • Demonstrated Solid Modeling experience – SolidWorks preferred
  • New product development experience
  • Demonstrated hands-on aptitude (construction and/or mechanical)
  • ‘Gated’ development process training and experience
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office suite
  • Six Sigma Black Belt training or exposure
  • Applied statistics
  • Creative
  • Tenacious
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, strong sense of personal accountability
  • A commercial perspective that drives projects to successful completion
  • Team player
  • Problem Solver
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Coachable
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
  • Willingness to travel.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle while maintaining focus on safe driving and avoiding all distractions when behind the wheel, especially cell phones.
  • Ability to stand, walk and sit for long periods of time; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; handle or feel objects or controls, reach with hands and arms; and occasionally lift/push/pull/carry up to 25 pounds.

 

Must be able to complete all essential job functions listed in the position responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
