Overview

Come join a team of dedicated and compassionate RN's in a 25-bed state-of-the-art Psychiatric facility in Berlin, Vermont. Our mission at the Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital (VPCH) is to improve the health and well-being of Vermont's most vulnerable populations. We have immediate openings for experienced Registered Nurses! Nurses function as fully integrated members of a multidisciplinary team while providing excellent psychiatric nursing care. Candidates, including current State employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, or persons exercising re-employment rights, must pass a fingerprint supported background investigation applicable to the position.  Additionally, in accordance with AHS Policy 4.02 - Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates. Hiring managers will notify applicants who are in the final stage of the interview process of the finger-printing and background check requirement, to which an applicant must agree to be deemed eligible for this position. Applicants will have the right to withdraw their applications before finger-printing and/or a background investigation is conducted.

Environmental Factors

Duties primarily performed in a clinical setting. Work may require travel off-site. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, potentially physically and verbally violent patient population and other stressful situations may occur. May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and extended shifts as the need arises.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license AND three (3) years or more of professional nursing experience in the nursing specialty.

NOTE: Must maintain Vermont licensure or multi-state license as a Registered Nurse as a condition of employment.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Special Requirements

Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels and for unannounced regulatory inspections and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime when required is an essential function of this job class.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with applicable hiring standards, fingerprint supported criminal record checks, adult and child abuse registry checks, the Office of Inspector General exclusion database, and motor vehicle driving record checks, as appropriate to the positon under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion, or demotion into a classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

For positions at the Vermont Veterans' Home: Any person who has had a charge of abuse, neglect or exploitation substantiated against him or her OR who has been convicted of an offense for actions related to bodily injury, theft or misuse of funds or property is not eligible under the Vermont Veterans' Home licensing requirements.
