About this role

Overview

As an HVAC Technician, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the comfort and safety of our facilities. You'll perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on a wide range of HVAC systems, including rooftop units, chillers, heat pumps, and more. 

 

If you have a strong background in HVAC repairs and maintenance, excellent problem-solving skills, and can work effectively both independently and as part of a team, we'd love to hear from you!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on various HVAC systems
  • Identify and resolve issues efficiently to minimize downtime

This position, Military Maintenance Specialist V - Limited Service (Job Requisition #53456), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed at State of Vermont and Federal National Guard facilities statewide.  The incumbent often works near or with hazardous materials, including ammunition and high voltage.  Work requires entering confined spaces, removing snow on runways and exposure to loud noises.  An incumbent operates heavy equipment and possession of a Commercial Driver's License is required.  An incumbent must be able to climb ladders and lift equipment and materials weighing as much as fifty pounds.  Work is performed in all kinds of weather.  Some work outside of normal duty hours will be required.  Travel and overnight stays may be included.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND five (5) or more years in Construction or Facilities Maintenance AND recognized as an HVAC Professional documenting a certification course, EPA Section 608 Type I, II, and III certifications, and 2000 hours of HVAC work, and at least one (1) Specialty plumbing license, AND at least one (1) Specialty electrical license.

Experience as a practicing apprentice in plumbing or electrical fields

 

Or

 

At least three (3) years of Military Maintenance Specialist IV.

 

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Building Trades/Vocational Education
  • Military experience
  • Previous experience working on a military installation

Special Requirements

Incumbents of this job may be required to have a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) issued, which is issued only upon passing a federal background check (Tier 1) including a fingerprint-supported criminal record check. Possession of CAC may be a condition of continued employment according to assigned duties and or location.

Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required for assigned duties.
