About this role

Overview

The Agency of Transportation (AOT) has an exciting opportunity available for an individual with experience in finance and/or accounting to join our Accounting Unit in the position of Financial Administrator II.

 

This position focuses on processing expenditure transfers within the financial systems, compiling data for energy tracking, and working closely with the Agency's Department of Motor Vehicles reconciling internal financial systems. Developing, modifying, and maintaining extensive intricate Excel spreadsheets is a significant requirement of this position. This position may also perform low-level supervisory functions.


The ideal candidate will have experience with STARS, VISION, VT Buys and possess extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, and Access), strong math skills and high attention to detail. They will have the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders. The ability to work effectively under tight time restraints and meet deadlines is required.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting AND one (1) year or more of professional experience in accounting involving maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards.

OR

Two years of full-time college coursework OR an Associate's degree in accounting, business administration, office administration or a related field AND three (3) years or more of professional experience in accounting involving maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years or more of professional experience in accounting involving maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards.

OR

One (1) year or more as a Financial Administrator I with the State of Vermont.

OR

Certification as a CPA.

Preferred Qualifications

For some positions preference may be given to applicants with supervisory experience.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
