Job Description:

This limited duration opportunity is scheduled to last through June 30, 2027.  We will also consider filling this position as a job rotation assignment for current state employees. To apply as a job rotation candidate, you must be currently employed by the State of Oregon (regular status, trial service, and limited duration employees) and have written approval from your manager/supervisor prior to applying.

Note: this position will receive a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increase of 2.5% which is not reflected in the salary listed in this posting. The effective date of the increase is February 1, 2026 and will be paid in the February 27, 2026 paycheck.

The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.

This position is with the Central Services Division (CSD). CSD is responsible for providing accounting, budgeting, collections, procurement, facilities management, information technology, human resources, and research services to the department.

This position is eligible to telework on a part-time basis once the incumbent has gained the proficiency to perform work independently. However, regular, scheduled office hours are also required.

Here’s what you will do:

As a Cashier, you will be responsible for assisting in the initial identification, coding by revenue source, and processing of all revenue for the department on a computerized remittance processing system which in turn generates accounting reports and a deposit listing.  You will also enter revenue refund data on a computerized receivables system and post Non-Complying Employer and OSHA citation payments and non-cash transactions to subsidiary systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data

OR

  • An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

Requested Skills:

  • Experience in computerized accounting and revenue tracking system

  • Ability to question, analyze and evaluate information

  • Ability to pay attention to detail

  • Experience querying data

  • Ability to communicate cashiering issues with a diverse audience with limited cashiering backgrounds

  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment

  • Valuing and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, cultivating a culture of respect and collaboration

Additional information:

  • Per the Pay Equity Law passed in 2017, a pay equity analysis will be conducted to determine what pay step the successful candidate will be offered.  The analysis will be based on the relevant experience, education, training, and certifications documented in the application materials.  On average, candidates new to state service will most likely be offered compensation in the lower to mid-level of the salary range.

  • The salary range listed is the non-PERS eligible rate. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible after 6 months of employment, the salary range will increase by 6.95% and the required 6% employee retirement contribution will be deducted from your pay.
