This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Average 29 hours per work week

This part-time temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health & Human Services - DSOHF - Black Mountain Neuro Med Treatment Center. The primary purpose of the Lead Nurse is to provide professional nursing care and encourage independent function in with care being individualized rather than routine and to focus on the promotion of the residents' rights and decision making. The Lead Nurse is responsible for identifying health problems needing attention from a physician and to work closely with the physician to provide medical care. The Lead Nurse is also an integral part of the interdisciplinary team which shares responsibility with other team members for related needs to insure an integrated approach to care for the individuals residing at Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center. The Lead Nurse is also responsible for instructing and monitoring all other staff that have direct care contact with the residents.

Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.

 

Management Preferences: 

  • Knowledge of professional principles, practices and theory of nursing and its application  Knowledge of medications, their proper dosage, effects and contraindications
  • Working knowledge of dietetics, sanitation, personal hygiene, and infection control  
  • Ability to organize assigned work
  • Ability to make reports and documentation
  • Ability to prepare and maintain report of shift activities and resident's progress
  • Ability to verbally report information
  •  Ability to maintain nursing records and charts
  • Ability to gain the confidence of the residents and to work effectively with them, staff and families
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and staff
  • Knowledge and skill in CPR and AED.  Must have computer skills
