Job Description:

Under general supervision, the ideal candidate will be able to perform a variety of technical administrative tasks including assisting the public over the phone with the issuance of permits, certificates, big game applications, and Harvest Information Program (HIP) registrations. Answer permit related inquiries in accordance with State Statutes, Regulations and Orders. Process application forms and payments for Nebraskaland magazine subscriptions. Assist permit agents, both internal and external, with permit system inquiries. Serve as backup for the customer service counter support staff. Provide support for other section workers to assist with seasonal projects (paddlefish permits, park permit book counts, end of year final audit process, etc). Other duties as assigned. Must be punctual with reliable attendance and willing to work in a fun, fast-paced environment. This position is 100% in-office and crucial to the day-to-day operations of the Permits section (not eligible for remote work). Overnight travel not required but opportunities for exciting external work opportunities outside of the office are available through the year. Free parking onsite. Work schedule is M-F, 8 am to 5 pm.


 

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods including the operation of personal computers and office equipment; or areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency. OR Experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.


 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:  Knowledge of: the practices, procedures, and equipment used in secretarial/clerical support operations; record keeping practices and database management; customer service processes and principles; the program-administrative policies and guidelines; processes and terminology associated with assigned work; grammar, punctuation, spelling, and composition for general business and specialized purposes; word and data processing software.
