The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP).

 

 

The RHTP Communications Specialist serves as the primary communications lead for the RHTP. This position develops and executes strategic communication plans to promote program goals, engage stakeholders, and ensure transparency in alignment with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) cooperative agreement requirements. The role focuses on creating clear, accessible messaging for rural health providers, tribal partners, community organizations, and policymakers. Responsibilities also include working with the agency Communications office (CO) on media relations, stakeholder communications, content development, and coordination of public outreach efforts specific to RHTP initiatives.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

  • Strong understanding of public health communication principles and rural health issues.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills with ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and maintain accuracy.

  • Meet minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, public health, or related field.

    • Two to four years in communications, public relations, or health-related outreach.

    • Preferred:

      • Experience in health policy or rural health programs; graphic design skills.

Additional Information

 

This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.

This position is federally funded through September 30, 2030.
