The Purchaser works for the Warehouse/Purchasing Manager within the Contracts and Procurement Division. The position is responsible for receiving, reviewing and processing all purchase requests for a wide variety of commodities, supplies, and services for Montana State Prison. The Purchaser is also responsible for reconciling the pro-cards for the Warehouse employees, and for the supervision & training of the inmate computer clerks in the data input operations unit.

This position performs professional work in providing expertise to Montana State Prison, as well as other Department and Statewide offices, in the procurement of a variety of commodities and services from the commercial sector. This position is entrusted with considerable responsibility for ensuring MSP is in compliance with State procurement statutes, rules, and policies. 



QUALIFICATIONS

The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, communication, or related field. 

  • Two years of purchasing, technical writing, project management, contract administration, or other applicable experience.

Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
