Office/Bureau: Maintenance and Operations (Region 5 - Northern Maine)    

Location: Caribou, ME (Yard Crew)

Opening Date: January 16, 2026

Job Description:  

This is general transportation infrastructure maintenance work involving construction, repair, and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, equipment repairs, buildings, bridges, grounds, roadways and/or other applicable infrastructure. This position is responsible for yard operations at the Caribou facility, also include testing and transporting of State equipment, blast and paint, transporting materials, using a low-bed trailer, hydroseeding, plowing, material handling and surplus property. Assist the work of transportation crews engaged in fleet / maintenance/construction work. May operate heavy motorized equipment. May be called upon to plow snow if necessary.

For this position candidates must meet the following experience criteria:

  • Must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Required to work at a higher class as necessary and in accordance with required licenses and/or certification

Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements: 

  • State-paid Medical examination that includes: 

    • a drug test 

    • Department’s Respirator fit test 

  • Class C State of Maine license by first day of employment. 

  • Shall obtain and retain a valid Class B State of Maine license during the initial six-month probationary period.

  • Ability to become a certified snow fighter within 12 months. 

  • Ability to obtain flagger certification within a specified amount of time.
