Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced TB nurse consultant to join the TB program and represent the department in the southern region of the state. This individual will have TB case management experience and be willing to support TB programming within the region including travel for education and monitoring. In addition this position will be responsible for the implementation of the Training & Education Network Program of TB Nurses throughout the state.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates the implementation of program activities in the southern tuberculosis (TB) region.
  • Functions as the program liaison to health providers documented as being out of compliance with recommended diagnostic, therapeutic, or patient management procedures.
  • Monitors local agencies for adherence to IDPH promulgated standards for local health departments.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements training programs for professional and non-professional staff involved in TB control and management.
  • Provides technical supervision to professional staff within local health agencies in complying with program guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
  • Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in nursing.
  • Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.

 

 

Specialized Skills

  • Requires three (3) years of experience in TB case management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience in TB case management.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with public health officials.
  • Three (3) years of experience working with Microsoft Office products.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with infectious disease outbreak/contact investigations.
  • One (1) year of experience working with electronic health records.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
