Position Overview

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Support Service Worker for the Treatment and Detention Facility located in Rushville, Illinois to work in an assigned shift in the Dietary Department. Assists in the preparation and serving of food while overseeing residents. Cleans and maintains sanitation of the kitchen and related areas in coordination with residents. Operates dishwasher, pot and pan machine, mixers, can openers, disposals, coffee makers, toasters, and any other kitchen utensils. Distributes food to patient areas. Maintains records of items removed from storage areas and stock workstations with supplies after each meal service. Cleans and sanitizes various work areas throughout facility, including special cleaning instructions.

Essential Functions

  • Performs tasks in one of the several areas on an assigned shift of the Dietary Department.
  • Assists in the preparation and serving of food while overseeing residents.
  • Cleans and maintains sanitation of the kitchen and related areas in coordination with residents.
  • Operates dishwasher, pot and pan machine, mixers, can openers, disposals, coffee makers, toasters, and any other kitchen utensils.
  • Distributes food to patient areas.
  • Maintains records of items removed from storage areas and stock workstations with supplies after each meal service.
  • Cleans and sanitizes various work areas throughout facility, including special cleaning instructions.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six (6) months experience in the support service functional area to which assigned.

Conditions of Employment

  • Per P.A. 098-0566 – Requires ability to complete an ANSI Accredited food handling training course within 30 days of employment.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
