GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To offer nursing consultative and educational services to private and public agencies throughout the state and to correlate these services with other services of the department and with programs of private and other public agencies; and to do related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the administrative and technical supervision of a superior who lays out a general program and reviews work for conformity with departmental policies and professional practices; or works under the functional supervision of the Director, Public Health Nursing who reviews work for conformity with professional practices and results obtained.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Usually none.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT:
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES: A thorough knowledge of the techniques and practices of public health nursing; skill in the application of such techniques and practices; a thorough knowledge of the principles of public health education; the ability to provide nursing consultative and educational services to private and public agencies throughout the state; the ability to analyze nursing needs and to advise on the establishment and maintenance of acceptable policies, techniques, and procedures in this field; and related capacities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: Such as may have been gained through: graduation from an accredited school of nursing and graduation from a college of recognized standing involving a program of study in Public Health Nursing; and
Experience: Such as may have been gained through: employment as a nursing supervisor in a generalized public health service.
Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must meet nursing registration requirements as required by Rhode Island law and regulations and must maintain such requirements as a condition of employment.

Also, be advised that a new provision in RI General Law 35-6-1 was enacted requiring direct deposit for all employees. Specific to new hires, the law requires that all employees hired after September 30, 2014 participate in direct deposit. Accordingly, any employee hired after this date will be required to participate in the direct deposit system. At the time the employee is hired, the employee shall identify a financial institution that will serve as a personal depository agency for the employee.
