The mission of the Department of Military is to provide a professional staff of Arkansas State Employees who help maintain and improve the readiness of Arkansas National Guard units through effective fiscal management of State Resources, Human Resource Management, and quality administration of Arkansas National Guard Programs.

The duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with full life-cycle IT infrastructure projects (initiation → closeout)
  • Support design, implementation planning, scheduling, prioritization, and progress tracking
  • Monitor project timelines, data accuracy, and deadlines; communicate status and issues to management
  • Monitor and support data center systems (HVAC, power, backup power, fire suppression)
  • Assist with preventative maintenance planning for critical infrastructure
  • Install, terminate, test, and maintain fiber optic, copper, and grounding systems
  • Perform fusion splicing and mechanical fiber terminations
  • Ensure compliance with BICSI standards
  • Assist with access control systems and electronic locking installations
  • Serve as alternate custodian for physical security (keys, locks, access systems)
  • Ensure compliance with STIGs, AR 380-1 / 380-5 for SIPR facilities
  • Document and assess access controls in eMASS (RMF compliance)
  • Travel statewide to AR Army National Guard armories and installations
  • Resolve data communications trouble tickets and support new installations

 

This is not a remote position and will require frequent in state travel.

Job Summary

The IT Infrastructure Analyst is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining an agency’s or organization’s information technology infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, and efficiency. This role involves managing servers, networks, storage systems, and other infrastructure components while identifying opportunities to enhance performance, security, and capacity. The IT Infrastructure Analyst provides technical support, troubleshoots issues, and collaborates with various teams to align the infrastructure with business needs.

Primary Responsibilities

Design, configure, and maintain information technology infrastructure, including servers, networks, and storage systems. Monitor system performance and ensure uptime, availability, and optimal functioning of infrastructure components. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues to minimize downtime. Evaluate existing infrastructure and recommend upgrades or improvements to support growth and efficiency. Implement and maintain security measures to protect infrastructure from vulnerabilities and cyber threats. Document infrastructure configurations, procedures, and changes to ensure accurate records are maintained. Support the implementation of disaster recovery and backup strategies to safeguard data integrity. Collaborate with information technology teams, vendors, and a variety of assorted personnel on infrastructure-related projects and initiatives. Research emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the agency’s or organization’s infrastructure. Provide support and training to end-users and junior information technology personnel as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience in information technology infrastructure or related roles, such as systems or network administration.

Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
