Senior Engineer

Job Description

Purpose
The primary focus of the role is to assist team leader and manager in executing of daily routine preventive tasks, corrective tasks and assignment (within the required Service Level Agreement) required for the Infrastructure Operation and Maintenance of StarHub Fiber infrastructure, StarHub Ltd Fixed Transmission Network to provide Quality of Services (QOS) to our valuable customer.

Key responsibilities

1.    Service provisioning of Dark Fiber (DF) services,
2.    Carry out daily infrastructure operations and maintenance of StarHub’s fiber network and ensure continuous connectivity,
3.    Able to work independently and give appropriate resolutions to share with team members to rectify the incidents and outages,
4.    Liaise with vendors and cross-functional teams to implement projects and troubleshooting to resolve network faults,
5.    Perform optical fiber system maintenance, troubleshooting and restoration work,
6.    Provide on-site support to resolve network equipment failures if required,
7.    Perform scheduled fiber diversions implementation work,
8.    Perform verification of fiber cable port allocation tables (PAT),
9.    Troubleshoot & resolve fiber related network incidents & outages during office hours as well as after-office hours,
10.    Perform roster standby duty for network faults after office hours on rotational basis,
11.    Maintain and validate network designs/drawings and upkeep fiber records,
12.    Perform regular urgent unplanned after office hours customer maintenance windows,
13.    Perform other sophisticated duties when assigned by team leader,
14.    Assist in complicated ad-hoc projects and duties when assigned by team leader and manager.
15.    Acquiring the technical knowledge and skill in operating and maintaining the multi-vendor multi-type transmission network.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
•    Degree / Diploma in Electronics / Computer / Telecommunication.
•    Fresh Diploma holders with a positive attitude may be considered.

Technical Skills:    
•    Intermediate knowledge of ethernet network, IP technology, broadband access, fiber optic transport system and fiber optic system
•    Good working knowledge of telecommunication services and fixed transport network technology.
•    Familiar with IP networking knowledge will be advantageous.
•    Familiar with Ethernet testing equipment, testing methodology (RFC 2544) etc.

Experience:    
•    Minimum 3 or more years of working experience in Info-Communication industry environment and/or fixed transport network domain equipment support engineer.
•    Ability to comprehend and gather information pertinent to the job such as new work procedures and methods.
•    Must possess valid Class 3 (Manual Gear) driving license.
