Join Staples Supply Chain as a Sr Automation Engineer and play a key role in driving innovation and efficiency within our fulfillment centers. You'll be at the forefront of designing and implementing cutting-edge automation and robotic solutions that directly impact our warehouse performance and customer satisfaction. What you’ll be doing:

  • Study the current state of our fulfillment centers to identify inefficient processes and areas for improvement.
  • Develop, analyze, and design detailed solutions that increase efficiency and performance within the warehouse environment.
  • Manage projects from conception through implementation, leading automation and robotics initiatives both independently and as part of a team.
  • Mentor junior associates in the development process, supporting their growth and the success of the team.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in live production and testing environments, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Develop and execute test plans for robotic and automation software, and assist in test and production deployments.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams such as engineering, SDS, and project management.
  • Provide on-site commissioning support and interact with external customers and vendors as needed.

 

What you bring to the table:

  • Proven ability to analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and implement automation and robotic solutions. 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with logistics, warehouse management, and cross-functional project work.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with diverse teams to achieve common goals.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex processes and resolve production issues efficiently.

 

What’s needed - Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering or data science discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years of automation or robotics engineering experience.
  • 4 + years in PLC Programming 
  • 4+ years Experience in Allenbradley, Codesys Platforms

What’s needed - Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of automation and robotic systems within a supply chain or warehouse environment.
  • Proven ability to manage projects from start to finish and mentor team members.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external partners.

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity.  In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation.
